Garage only takes cash
Hello! Broke down at the weekend and car was taken to a garage to get fixed when it reopened on Monday. Clutch and flywheel went so needed to be replaced. Told me cost etc on phone, overpriced but what could I do.
Went to collect yesterday and said they were cash only, machine broke and that they told me on the phone (they didn’t). Cost is £1300 and of course I don’t have that cash. They let me take the car home, took my address and to come back today to pay for it.
I was going to phone to say, let me know when your machine is back up and running and I’ll pay or if not, bank transfer but I’ve realised I didn’t get a receipt! Any ideas as to what I can do? Or just get an itemised receipt when I go to give them cash.

I'd want an itemised invoice, regardless of how the bill was paid.2

Very trusting of them to allow you to take the car away without paying the bill - most won't do that, except perhaps to regular or account customers.
I wouldn't expect a receipt until you've paid, as to me that's proof that you've paid, that they've "received" the money. Maybe they'll just hand-write "paid with thanks" on the invoice. £1300 is a strangely round number, though of course might be perfectly legitimate. (Or you may be rounding for the forum).2 -
Thanks, yes true, trusting for a first time customer. Yeah I’d rounded up, was £1290.0

You can always ask for an invoice which isn't the same thing as a receipt.1

What you want is an itemised bill.0
