What do you do when your insurance company says they will not renew your home insurance whilst a cla

My daughter discovered foul water under the suspended floors.  She contacted the insurance company.  her claim was accepted.  She was put into temporary accommodation while the house was dried out and the cause was found.  That was a year ago.

The insurance company Hastings Direct employed contractors that it was agreed were incompetent which is one of the reasons it has dragged on, while others took over and started again.  They say they will restore the house, new floors, etc but they will no longer pay to monitor the water level or undertake any further remedial work, although the surveyor recommend that they should.

She has accommodation cover up to one hundred thousand pounds that has yet to be reached.  They have not paid this month's rent and say they will not pay any more.

Last week they sent a letter saying they won't renew the policy when it comes due on 21st July.  Without giving a reason.

She is trying to establish a paper trail establishing, one, a reason for not renewing, and, two, that a complaint has been made to the company that they have not dealt with in a satisfactory manner.

The company has eight weeks to respond.  Her insurance will run out within the next three weeks.

She's at a loss as how to proceed.  She isn't sure what her rights are.  Any advice would be welcome.

You get insurance from another company.  They don't have to offer renewal.

The claim is still theirs to deal with, even after you have left, up to what the policy in effect at the time of the loss says it covers.
