It's a wise move if you need certainty of prices but Octoous are not the company for the cheapest fixes. Their forte is smart meter time of use tariffs.jazzy said:I am considering signing up with the Octopus 12M Fixed contract, currently on the Octopus Flexible contract. Standing charges and unit prices are more or less the same on both contracts. Is it a wise move?1 -
Hi Jazzy, I have been with Octopus ( via the Coop) for some time and have always been happy with their customer service. Albeit mainly through their very interactive and responsive website. I was thinking of changing to their July. fixed tarriff, from flexible , and hovered over the decision until I saw on MSE that it generally seems now is a good time to consider a fix. I studied the data, the standing charge remains the same, the kilowatt hours are slightly more, but once the October 10% rise in cap ?comes into play, if I am correct, then I thought I would go ahead and click on change tarriff to fixed. This I did, and noticed that the change was to take place overnight, resulting in the extra few pounds difference will now be payable by me from the day after I clicked change, even though price cap not up 10% till 1st October.0
