The sooner best before are ditched, the better. Too much food being wasted by people calling it out of date when it isn’tMy point was exactly what I posted ….. I’ve never seen anywhere selling out of date food as it’s illegal. You saying that food can be good when it’s out of date is incorrect. It can be dangerous.Food past its best before is not out of date, it’s past its best.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I don't buy food which has gone past it's Best Before date.
So far, I have bought food from Best Before It's Gone, Iceland, Poundland, T K Maxx and The Range. OH will do Aldi and Lidl before end of July.2 -
FlorayG said:'Best before' means it's still safe to eat but may be a bit 'sad' or dried up or past it's best. 'Use by' date means that after that date it's considered not to be safe to eat, so is 'out of date'. It's illegal to sell food that is out of date.sarah1972 said:My point was exactly what I posted ….. Lidl is doing Greek Week for the third time this year. OH is finishing a course in Epsom tomorrow so he will investigate the Lidl there with a shopping list which includes Graviera cheese from Crete, Extra Virgin olive oil, stuffed vine leaves, several varieties of houmous, tzatziki, olives, butter beans, okra, antipasto, jarred artichokes with capers and Kalamon olives, and easy peelers reduced to 69p. 😎
OH wanted new bedding and towels - it must be peak moth season as they have been feasting in the bedding drawer. He is paying for them and delivery so I added some food on the ASDA and Tesco orders. All offers from ASDA 😉
Has Tesco upped the minimum trolley/basket to £50 ? I had to add organic beef steak mince at over £5 to check out.0 -
Phew! All the food I ordered turned up yesterday.
Olive oils from T K Maxx
Husband got a good haul from Lidl including Graviera cheese, antipasto, olives, stuffed vine leaves.

Wanted to do an order from ASDA but ALL the goats milk & cheese was unavailable so I did an Ocado order. Sixteen out of 29 items were offers - Finnebrogue back & streaky bacon, MSC skin on boneless haddock fillets, organic Romano peppers, Cheesies, Mr Filbert's olives (several varieties) and cashews, M&S sliced rare roast beef, Président Brie and M&S stringless runner beans.0
