Ford Ranger 2020 Wildtrak Gear Box Failure
Hi
After a bit of advice to see if there is anything we can do to sort out a problem with a 2020 Ford Ranger. Briefly, it is just 4 years old, out of warranty, done 44k miles, it has a major gear box problem that means it is dangerous to drive, Ford have said it needs a new gear box. The Ranger is classed as a commercial vehicle and should not be failing at 44k miles.
We have it on a business lease from Ford Lease, we extended the original 3 year lease by an extra year mainly because we wanted to change the vehicle to an electric vehicle but there was nothing sutable at the time, this then took the vehicle out of warranty, the vehicle was due to be picked up by Ford Lease at the end of June.
There are numerous accounts of the Ranger having this problem on the internet.
We have received an offer of goodwill from Ford for 55% which leaves us a bill of £3600.
Is this the best we can expect?
We have contacted Ford customer relations centre, even though we currently have 3 Rangers they wont improve the goodwill offer, as soon as the vehicle is repaired it will be returned to Ford lease.
Ford produced this vehicle with this well known problem, we have leased it from them for 4 years, we will now repair it for them, return it to them, so they can sell it to someone else.
Anything we can do?

Have you tried an independent gearbox specialist, to rebuild? At least worth having a chat.
If you happen to be in Scotland these guys have done work for me in the past (rear differential rebuild). They don't do automatics.
