Could also have been a Bradford & Bingley account
Bradford & Bingley never offered current accounts.
  • Cater Allen offer specialist accounts and are listed as Santander on some credit reporting agencies - were you maybe a trustee or an executor around that time?

Trying the lost account website.  Definitely never used any of the other building societies etc mentioned.

I really think this is some sort of mistake because I was already quite ill in 2004 and wouldn't have been opening any sort of accounts.  Don't have credit cards either.

Cahoot used to offer current accounts too, so could also be them, although I suspect you'd be more likely to know about that one.

Do come back and let us know what you find!

The My Lost Account website has found an Abbey National account.  Doesn't say which branch or any other details.  I suppose now I need to contact Abbey National to find out more.

But as they became part of Santander nearly twenty years ago, it's still Santander you need to take this up with!

Well I got a letter today from Santander confirming there is a dorment account in my name at my address.  They say for security reasons they can't divulge much information about it other than it has a balance of £0.27.  :D

You should hope your good fortune continues and you are informed of another 3 unknown dormant accounts.  Then you could afford a mars bar to celebrate.
