I have done so. They usually take weeks to respond. I was trying to understand how it works generally.

You left the scheme 24 years ago, so waiting a few more weeks for an updated statement surely isn't that big a deal...?!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Do you have a scheme guide?

If not, your Scheme administrator should be able to provide one.

It is possible you may find some information re GMPE progress in your scheme via a search on the internet - example

Not to you no but as you don’t know my personal circumstances and reasons why I’m trying to find out then it’s not really fair to assume it isn’t a big deal.

I’ve never had a guide that I remember. The scheme has been managed by various insurance companies over the years and quite recently was taken over again. It’s difficult getting information from them but I will keep trying.

Which company is now administering your pension?

You don't have any on line access?

It is virtually certain that you were given a Scheme Guide when you joined the Scheme but quite possible that you shoved it in a drawer

and gave it no more thought.

You may find that a Guide is available on the internet.

It’s a company called XPS. I have asked in the past about an online portal but told there isn’t one. I have emailed them to query further.

Seems to be available, at least for some schemes.

The scheme I belong to is managed by them as opposed to ‘with’ them and they informed me there was no online portal access over a year ago and the only way for me to access information is by writing or emailing, to which they respond after several weeks.
