Photoshop help

Hi,

I'd like to make my niece a birthday card on photoshop, merging a picture of her face with a scene in her favourite cartoon (eg 'make' her face the leading star of the cartoon, with the cartoon animal's body etc) - can anyone help?
Have tried googling for tutorials but no luck. Am pretty Photoshop savvy, but apparently not on this issue!
Many many thanks

Lucy

  • Sorry is what you are wanting to do.... cut out her head and paste it onto a cartoon image? For this I would use the magnetic lasso tool, then paste it onto the new image and have a play around with filters etc to see if you can blend it in better. I can have a go if you would like.

    Have a look for "masking"

This allows you to add your face as seperate layer, then using mask you "paint out" the pig face using black brush and your face shows through

The best bit about masking is that any errors can be undone by painting over in white

It looks failrly easy with the picture you have chosen as there are sharp lines to follow

Another method would be use the magic wand to select face to replace, delete face and use new layer with your face to align over empty space

  • Hi folks
Also looking to do some basic stuff with CS2...are there any tutorials available anywhere as not got a clue where to start

    Cheers
  • thanks everyone. I've tried pasting the face on top, and changing the opacity, but frankly it looks stupid! will now try to masking option. pig/human thing isn't going well though.. last year i had to do the Teletubbies baby/sun, and it was a lot easier!
if you would be able to help that would be amazing! thanks again

find a tutorial on PS masking. its essential and easy enough to learn the basics.
once you can use masks you will never look back.
there are thousands of PS help websites. google is your friend.
    Get some gorm.
  • Try looking on places like "YouTube" I found quite a few on there to help me to do things with Photoshop. Only trouble is you sometimes have to dig deep to find what your looking for.
