Income support migration to universal credit letter?

Hi folks I claim income support as I'm a carer for my mother as people that receive carers allowance are able to do that. This week I have received a letter saying income support is stopping and that you would have to be migrated to universal credit.I'm wondering if anyone has had one of these letters? I've already got a stressed out life as a carer and this is the last thing I wanted to have to organise! I suppose carer's allowance will probably have to move to UC at some time too

Yes everyone on old style benefits will be moving to Universal credit. very many people have already moved and the rest will be over the next few years. carers allowance will continue to be paid separately to UC but is deducted in full and you should have a carers element added in with your other UC element.2

Thanks,I hope I end up with a similar amount of money when it's all sorted out.So you get a UC allowance amount that they subtracted the carers allowance received in that amount but then add something called carers element? The mind boggles.I'm terrible with forms so I suppose I should contact the CABRubyroobs said:Yes everyone on old style benefits will be moving to Universal credit. very many people have already moved and the rest will be over the next few years. carers allowance will continue to be paid separately to UC but is deducted in full and you should have a carers element added in with your other UC element.0 -
There is plenty of help available here, when do you have to claim by? You shouldn't have any less money that you do now. Do you live with your mother or live separately? Rent or mortgage?
You make a claim for UC online. https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/how-to-claim you don't have to complete it all at once. If you post your Income support payment dates then someone will help you to decide when is best to submit your claim as this will dictate your payment date for Universal Credit.
