Haggling with sky

I am having a freak out. Been with sky 15 years was out of contract last month. Bill went up from £67 a month to £132 (broadband, Netflix, sky sports, signature, multi room and HD) cancelled broadband and went to BT as it’s rubbish around here. Spoke to an advisor earlier to negotiate new 18 month contract and best he can do it’s £75 but considering I don’t have broadband with them any more that’s a lot. Quite frankly I can’t afford it. So I have put in my cancellation notice. Can I change my mind tho?

I think my husband and son will kill me if I loose sky sports!

I got really confident reading the success posts on here and now I am thinking !!!!!! have I done 😭

I have recently done EE tv (BT tv as was) with TNT sports (BT as was), Now Sports (Sky), HD for a lot less than that plus they do additional box connected by wifi for free.

Try ringing BT to ask about BT tv, they will likely offer you a discount on your bband to switch to EE then you can ask about EE tv Big Sport package.

Netflix you can add separately yourself.

Hold your nerve and they will usually contact you to offer another deal.

That said, Sky is a rip-off these days. Charging for HD and multiroom is out of order. You can quite easily cancel altogether and just pay for Now TV on a month by month basis. No contract. No "HD" fees. No "multiroom" fees.

Try the huge thread on here.

You can change your mind before it turns off but if it does turn off they won't consider you for any 'new customer' deals for 18 or 24 months.

Be aware that the next time you speak to them it's likely to be for a 24 month deal as they're moving everything to that from 18 month deals. And no, that won't make it cheaper :(

Am I the only one thinking - if your husband and son want Sky Sports, get them to pay for it ?
Well it’s a joint account so it will come out of that

If you look at the Sky forum, https://helpforum.sky.com/, you'll find that the days of deep discounts and callbacks from retentions are long gone.

You can haggle but don't expect too much these days.

This is exactly why Sky can get away with charging so much. People panic at the thought of life without them and will pay what they're offered whether they can afford it or not.
Leave your cancellation notice in place, they will contact you with offers, if nothing you want nearer the cut off time phone them to see what's available. If still nothing affordable for you let it switch off for a day then try again. Don't accept anything you can't afford, there is always NowTV and then you can have sport only. The next contract will be 24 months because they all are with Sky now, so if you do stay with them you have to factor in 2 unknown price increases. Don't worry about the person above who said you won't get offered a new customer deal, you may do. Mine was switched off for a month when I started to be sent these offers, I don't want to go back to them though.

Me, I ditched Sky earlier in the year because I didn't accept their inflation-plus price rises; I now watch Freesat and don't miss Sky.
When I quit I told them what I wanted, but they said no.
I've subsequently had multiple offers to reconnect, but my ship has sailed.

You're talking about winback deals which may or may not arrive, I'm talking about online new customer deals. The two are totally separate.
