Santander Edge upgrade issues

I am having great difficulty upgrading my Santander Everyday joint current account to an Edge account.

The account was previously a 1-2-3 but then went dormant for a couple of years so I downgraded it to an every day.

When trying to upgrade it online it says I need an eligible account to upgrade. I have called CS and they haven't been much use, just 'we can't see why it is refusing the upgrade, your joint account is eligible'.

Their resolution is to book me an appointment in branch.

Has anyone else had this issue upgrading?

I'd rather not go through the hassle of changing all my direct debits.

If your reason for wanting the Edge is to get access to the Edge Saver, just apply for a new Edge but don’t pay anything in and don’t set up DDs on it. That way, you don’t get charged the monthly fee but you are still entitled to the Edge Saver (and the Edge credit card).

I just remembered: there's a £20 cashback offer for the Santander Edge on Topcashback: https://www.topcashback.co.uk/santander-edge-current-account/

this sounds like a good way to get the Edge saver for free but can I ask has it been definitely checked that the Edge saver interest is paid at 7% if you don't pay the £3 current account fee.

You can deposit money if you like. It’s not setting up the DDs that matters.

I had the same message when trying to upgrade an unused Everyday account to Edge.

I gave up trying to upgrade and just opened a new Edge account, earning cashback as well via Topcashback. Then I switched away the unused Everyday account to earn a switching bonus.

You can actually close the edge current and still receive the 7% for 2 months after that

they were still active for that long on a dormant account, or you already started to use it again?
