Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's bye bye summer here too. Mizzly rain overnight but fortunately the forecasted winds haven't arrived (yet!)
The excitement of today is the usual Friday Tidy. Then some banking to do if I cba. But I am feeling rather down and disheartened at the minute with so many health problems in the extended family. My cousin-in-law (is that even a name?) in Oz, who I used to be very friendly with before she emigrated, has died this week with a brain tumour and now news of another cousin-in-law (lives locally) having been diagnosed with a brain tumour also. And as everything comes in 3's my SIL was given bad news yesterday. I mentioned her a few months ago when she had a stoma then chemo and radiotherapy as there was evidence of cancer in all lower organs. The results of the scans done last week were worse than feared and it's now just a matter of time for her. Having been in their shoes I know just how they must both be feeling, her DH and sons will be in bits. I can't seem to shake off the gloominess of it all.
The sun must be trying to cheer me up as whilst I was typing it's now emerged in among some blue sky and cloud. I hope it lasts. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, fed up or lonely. Take care all xx

Morning all, thanks Gers-back to 'normal' weather here in the NW, cloudy, windy and rained hard during the night, bit chilly tooNothing really planned for today My grocery delivery was an hour late yesterday, but the driver did ring to let me know. It didn't matter really as I wasn't going out in the morning. Sometimes you get the free O cado magazine but this week was a big pot of Bonnemaman cherry yogurt, which DS will enjoy!I messed up my loaf yesterday when I realised I'd timed it to be ready when we were out doing the school run so I took it out of the bm when it had finished kneading, warmed the oven slightly and left it to rise, which it did beautifully!. I should have put the oven on to bake it when we got back home ,but instead put it back in the bm and during the transfer the top sunk
It was a milk loaf and still tasted lovely just had a wobbly looking top
. I used the now mended slicing guide - def need a new knife.
Thanks @snoozer but it isn't me going off on a break unfortunatelyHope everyone is doing ok, Florence hope you get DH diagnosis soon

So sorry about all your bad news @TA, have a big hug though I know it doesn't help too much, it's not surprising that you feel so gloomy. 💕@Rosy - your milk loaf sounds tasty, never mind the top!I'm haunting the thread this morning, just watching the wind blow everything around. The farmer has been out with feed for the cattle and my drive-by neighbours have given me the final toot of the school year. The two children have taken to waving at me too.9

Morning all..Bit dull and grey and windy here but I am not complaining because i forgot that when I get really hot, I get really angry. My sister and I had to have a code word for when I was losing it and didn't realise before....Stromboli - very apt
I don't shout or anything, I just start banging things...Oh has moved his xbox and stuff upstairs out of the way for the work, I am going to bag up my books today and take them upstairs too. I have five saucepans and a small table ready in the car to take to the cs, another thing on freecycle waiting, but I am going to have to be ruthless [is this possible?] because I have to move the little dresser that has all the glasses in it and consolidate food and saucepans to one bookcase. I'm fed up already...
Gers, your weather sounds awful, fingers crossed it decides to go away soon and leaves your rose bush intact. Saw a pic on the gardening thread of the results of the storm on 2Ps rosebush, before = lots of roses, after = nothing left....such a shame, it's not like roses last that long anyway...camelot, hope vietnam is living up to expectations. TA, it does really seem that when one thing comes along, it all comes along at once. Yes, you can be sad for them, but remember you are still alive too. That may sound callous, it's not meant to though. snoozer, hope they're enjoying it too, I can think of worse things but going to Glastonbury festival is right up there with themAllie, glad you enjoyed, the weather looked good too! Izzy, can we swap houses please?
Hope the weather holds off for you too! Scarlet, hope the app goes well, enjoy the holiday too! Rosy, I'm with Gers on the milk loaf....whenever I hear people saying, oh yes, I made cinnamon rolls, bread etc...I am always envious
Take care all, especialy the struggling....

TA, I'm sorry you have had such bad news. I don't wonder you're feeling down. Take care of yourself.
Taff, I could do with a code word. You wouldn't get me to Glastonbury with a cattle prod, my worst nightmares, loud music and crowds.
Well, I have just done the grossest thing. I saw a Nancy Birtwhistle video about taking off your kitchen sink plug and cleaning under it. Her's looked horrific so I thought I'd try it, it's quite simple to do but the gunge under there was indescribable and smelled disgusting. I feel quite virtuous for having done it though. I defy anyone to watch the video and not want to do their own.10 -
@snoozer you're not wrong about wanting to do it. At least you didn't make my mistake. I paused the video after she showed you how to take the plug out and when I went back to watch the rest I found out about putting the bucket under the sink!! Not alot of water came out but it needed a wipe and a tidy anyway lol. Was gross what I found thoughForgot to get my photo done for my passport. I'd lose my head if it wasn't screwed on. A bit like the sink plug! I'll try again on Monday!{{hugs}} TA sorry to hear your bad news x9
