New sound bar can't get sound

So after drama with damage to a TV meaning u couldn't use my old soundbar I've bought another which I was getting use to.

I connected it via hdmi arc in TV into a connector (as optical digital damaged on tv) then optical digital to soundbar.

I want to connect via hdmi as the connector doesn't power on consistently via the connector (even using a power lead over usb) but the hdmi route just isn't working.

Setup:

TV- hdmi cable in arc; to hdmi in soundbar (tried both of the hdmi ports in pic. What's happening?

Have you changed the settings in your tv to use hdmi for the sound output.

Will double check tomorrow - but when jt was working I was using hdmi arc to carry the signal to a converter to use the optical out so not sure why it changes ? But will look. Couldn't see this setting when I was looking around

Yeah very limited tv settings on this sharp tv just pcm or dual

Thanks there was an output setting on tv set to tv (but worked with optical and arc going to a connector) changed to amplifier and now works !!
