Anyone any wiser on the progress of this sale?

In the absence of an end date on this offer I’m still undecided.

The current end date, the "long stop date," is 25/08/24.

You need to keep an eye out for new IDS RNS' but there don't appear to be any.

    Thanks for the insight.

I think I'll hold on for now, possibly check again at the end of the month to see if there are any new developments.

  • I accepted the offer and returned the form the day after I received it.

I’m not really happy about the company falling into the hands of an individual that may not have the best interests of Royal Mail customers at heart, but I don’t think I realistically had much choice.

The original plan was to turn off dividend reinvestment from my original 227 shares and enjoy the tiny dividend income at some point, but with all the changes to personal taxation in recent years at least this will save me the time and expense if disposing with the shares myself.

    Ho hum!

I share your sentiments on the takeover and like you I’ve only got 227 shares which is really neither here not there.

At which point in the process did/will you receive the proceeds from the sale?

I actually ended up with 361 shares in total because I participated in the dividend reinvestment plan.

I’m afraid I caved to the bribe on offer.

Not sure when to expect the proceeds.

I've been collecting the dividends therefore; I'm looking at the initial maximum allocation (227).

Have held IDS since they listed, and stand to gain approx £8 a year. So basically not worth having after fees and inflation. But the certainty of getting more than I paid for them 10 years ago vs. it could all collapse into nothing means the likelihood is most domestic inventors will now accept. Would you rather just get your money back, or try out for a little more yet risk losing everything? I think I've made my mind up.

I suspect most private investors will ignore the offer and whatever happens will be decided by the institutional investors.

Ironically, I think this is actually the best position for them to take as I personally think the offer is very poor/opportunistic and anyone who sells now won't benefit if the offer is increased
