Can I cancel life insurance but guarantee wife gets house should something happen to me?

    It isn't just a case of her being able to pay the mortgage, she would need to pass a lenders affordability tests to be able to get her own mortgage. She couldn't just take over your mortgage as she is not named on it.

    Adding her to the existing mortgage would make this much easier.

    If your wife can afford the mortgage payments, and all other bills (as your answers suggest), why do you need to 'save' on the life insurance? Surely pooling your funds would be a better bet, to ensure the life cover is kept in place?
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
