What do we do?

Options
My husband took out a Barclaycard because it was 0% interest on balance transfers and transferred his Goldfish card balance to it. Barclaycard are now charging him for repayment which is fine. HOWEVER, Goldfish have not taken off the balance, saying it was never received, so in effect my husband has DOUBLED his credit card balance rather than paying it off!!!! Barclaycard confirmed the details as the ones given by my husband which DO match that of his Goldfish card, yet Goldfish deny ever receiving the money. We are now facing having to pay both credit card bills, when we can surely only owe on one of them? We have tried to get this sorted out for weeks now, but each time we are told that Barclaycard will write to Goldfish, but there is no evidence that this has been done, and now Goldfish are charging my husband for not paying! We can't afford to pay twice, and to be honest, why should we? If the money didn't get to Goldfish, then where did it go? It is showing as a negative balance on the Barclaycard, so they have got the balance from somewhere - although I don't really understand what happens with these things! I would have thought that had it not been received, it would have been returned - such as happens with a bank transaction. It is not sitting in a holding account somewhere! What can we do? Who is at fault?

It appears that the money has gone to Barclaycard as they are charging you repayments.
The debt appears to not have been taken off your Goldfish card and they are charging you as well.
Goldfish have made the mistake here by not showing your Goldfish account as settled.
I would draft a letter to Goldfish Customer Services outlining the problem highlighting you want you account cleared and that you want all related cost and charges cancelled as you have transfered the balance to Barclaycard and they now have the debt and you are repaying them.
Add to the bottom of the letter that you expect this matter to be fully resolved within forty days otherwise you will pass this matter to the banking Obudsman for further action.
    That normally does the trick.
Keep a copy of all letters recieved and sent so you can keep track of progress.
Post here again if you get stuck or just need guidance,
    Good luck.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks - apparently Barclaycard expect it to be resolved within the next week - yeah right - but if it isn't, then my husband will certainly be taking it further - it will affect his credit rating if they insist on logging him as a defaulter! Goldfish admit they have a backlog of something, although I don't know what! But they can't confirm what action is being taken or has already been taken because they are closed - always are it seems!! Hubby will ring them again on Monday to see what excuse they have next and then do as you suggest.
