Do I need a V62?
Options
I recently bought privately a car. I did the insurance on my phone while with the seller but could not do the tax online as the seller had registered it SORN the day before. So I went to the local post office and explained the situation to them, they struggled a bit but eventually gave me a blue form to fill out for a V62, I paid the money for the tax and left with a receipt. The next day I checked online and my new car is taxed from the beginning of this month.
A few days later I received the V5C in the post.
I have now received in the post the blue form back (that I filled in at the post office) with a letter saying 'Thank you for your application for a vehicle registration certificate' and asking me to fill in the VIN, Chassis or frame number onto the form (I didn't fill it in at the post office because I only had the new keeper slip so didn't know what it is) and return in pre-paid envelope.
So my question is, do I need to do this? I have the V5C and the car is shown online as taxed.

You have a V5C in your name and address?
Then, no, you don't need to apply for one using the V62.
To be sure that's the right V5C, put the reg into https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and compare the issue date with that shown, then put the doc ref in to view the tax rate.1 -
Thanks. I'll ignore the letter.Debt Free: 01/01/2020
