Vinted - stained shirt sold to me as new, but I have to pay return?

I bought a pair of boots - suede/leather upper, leather lined, leather soles - for £10.00 plus buyers protection plus postage.
The cheapest pair of boots on the designer website was £700.
Described as 'very good', they looked as though they hadn't been worn.
Vinted has its problems but it also has its benefits.
But if you'd rather be put off by negative comments without any personal experience...
Also I've never had an issue of returns using ebay, so I use my personal experience in keeping using them.

I also use eBay (and have done so for 20+ years)
But by all means, be put off using Vinted after reading this thread.
I'm careful with what companies I do business with (unlike a lot of people who post on here).
If - in my own personal experience - I feel Vinted have not upheld my own personal rights, I'll vote with my feet
I'm not a sheep to be led by other people's reviews and experiences.
But if it makes you feel safer....

But do understand some are happy to go in blindly and are too headstrong to take to do otherwise.

It's not English as I know it.
However, I do hope you are not referring to me when you say 'some are happy to go in blindly and are too headstrong to take to do otherwise.'
I've been very clear on this thread (you may not have read the whole thread but just jumped in partway through) that I'm very careful about checking descriptions on auction sites.
If course, some people are happy to go in blindly and are too headstrong to do otherwise...
But that's not me.0 -

Now the OP is out of pocket because of that, and that's why I won't use Vinted.

I know what the OP said about the description.
That information came later in the thread in response to a question from me.
Luckily (for me) I don't take the word of one or two people who've had a bad experience (I'm sure you're savvy enough to know that if one person is dissatisfied they'll complain. If 100 people are happy, they'll say nothing).
Good luck with your eBay purchases. 👍0 -

There is a particular pair of sandals I love, the company stopped making them and I was down to my last pair. Looked on Vinted and managed to buy 2 brand new pairs for less than £10 each (the sandals cost £39.99 from the company), plus 2 pairs described as very good. I checked all the photos, including the soles and bought them, around £6 a pair, and they are virtually new, absolutely perfect.
Likewise in the winter I bought 3 winter coats, all exactly as described and a fraction of the price the shop was selling them for.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Fine to tell someone how many bargains you've got, that is wonderful all power those those that grab great value, but I don't need to be told I'm potentially missing out on great deals.

If something is clearly been misdescribed the the seller should be footing return costs as they should do by law, but Vinted just pointed to their T&Cs.
ebay certainly has it's faults, but I know if I do get something misdescribed they force the seller to pay return postage.

Now the OP is out of pocket because of that, and that's why I won't use Vinted. As I understand it, the shirt was described as brand new, never worn but when it arrived, it was discovered there was a stain on it. To play devil’s advocate, that doesn’t stop it being brand new as wearing something isn’t the only way for it to be stained. So, brand new, never worn might still be accurate.
Now, obviously the fact it has a stain on it is important information and something the purchaser would want to know about. But it’s not believed the seller is a trader so my understanding is that the only protection the purchaser has here is the law of contracts and all that requires is that the goods are accurately described (which they may well have been, but still not what the purchaser wanted).
So, I agree that there are risks to using vinted but I’m not sure that they are denying anyone their consumer rights, because no one seems to have any in this scenario, other than under basic contract law, which is purely between purchaser and seller.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
