when printing out pictures using a epson dx4400 and windows home xp the pictures look good in the viewer but printed very dark anyone know of any way to improve this and to be able to look at the picture the way it will be printed. thanks

It could be that your monitor is too bright ;-)
Most printer drivers have a brightness setting. Go to 'control panel' and then 'printers'. You will then see your printer icon. Right click on it and select 'properties' and then you should see a brightness slider somewhere...
