Cancelling car insurance - being charged whole policy amount

Hello you lovely people. I bought my daughter a car, 3 weeks later the power steering pump broke and there were a few other issues that arose so I returned it and got a full refund. A Choice insurance are now charging me the full years insurance to cancel the policy... is this correct ??

What specifically do the T&Cs say re. cancellation?

Is it these, which seems to indicate £50. How much was the policy? Had any claims been made on the policy?

Did they mention any Time on Risk fees?

I was previously at a choice.

By any chance is this a learner drivers policy?

I've had this previously its fairly normal if you are paying monthly because they loan you then you repay it monthly

It will be time on risk
Tye insurers cancellation fee - around £26 from memory
    a choice cancellation fee - £50
    and their retained commission

all of which comes from a fairly small premium to begin with
