Sorry to resurrect a slightly older post... but I paid a £99 deposit on a credit card and, all things being well, will be committing to the purchase tomorrow (dealer has already advised payment via BACS 2 working days in advance of any pickup).born_again said:
It is the cost of the item that has to be over £100 up to £30K.Bigphil1474 said:Surely it has to be over £100 to get the protection, and has to be under £30k in total, so they would be correct with first £500 as an option?
How much you pay on credit card makes no difference to the S75 cover.
A lot of garages will say a £500 deposit.
The cost of the item is just under £16K - am I covered by S75 in theory with the £99 deposit? Or do I need to spend £100 on credit card in one go to 'qualify' the transaction? (honestly I have read the Martin article but I'm doubting myself)Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.0 -
You're covered. Item must be between £100 and £30000 and any amount must be paid by credit card.1

1p on a CC is enough.
Although remember S75 is not a get out of jail free insurance policy.Life in the slow lane0
