Hi
Could you advise please - I've just been awarded ESA LCWRA. I work in retail 20 hrs per week but I've not been there since Dec 22nd 2023.
I have Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Anxiety and Depression and several other conditions. What do I have to do in regards to my job as I don't feel I can manage there anymore.
I've been getting SSP but that ended a week or two ago so what happens now re my job.
Sorry to be so stupid but don't understand what to do in regards to my job.
Thank you
Regards

Have you looked at applying for PIP if your condition is effecting your daily life?
https://www.gov.uk/pip
It will not be a quick process & comes with some stress if you are affected in that way.Life in the slow lane0 -
You won't have any work commitments with the job centre so don't have to work. If you don't think you can then I would advise to leave your job, that way someone else can have the job. I would definitely recommend applying for PIP if you haven't already.1

It may be different in retail but the advise i was given when i became to ill to work was not to resign.. but to wait for the company to 'terminate my contract due to ill health' or some such words.
That meant i hadn't intentionally made myself unemployed and that i would get severance pay.
please get advise from a benefits advisor before you quit... i know it prolongs the stress and worry. But it is worth checking.0 -

When I had to stop working the main reason I was advised not to give up but be dismissed on the grounds of capability because it would go against me applying for benefits (i.e. they take it more seriously if your employer has had to let you go) - but I'd have lost out on a decent chunk of pay as well.
To the OP, your employer should have a sickness policy which details the process of what happens when you're off sick long term and if they have to let you go.1
