Our existing discounted broadband and tv package is coming to an end in a couple of weeks and we have had an email saying the price is almost doubling. Our problem is we are looking h to move house and area inside next 3 to 6 months. What are our options? Do we negotiate for a new deal or will we get penalised when we move and have to pay off the remaining contract? Will they be open to a monthly rolling contract type of deal until we move?

BT cancelled our contract without penalty after a recent move as OpenReach can’t provided service to our bungalow without digging up our driveway (unless we contribute £4k to the cost). We had to switch to Virgin as apart from going 5g it was the only option.5g may have been a better option as due to the the Virgin router location and rubbish Hub 3 they provided, I will need to sort out a mesh network when we get back off holiday.0

If you don't renew for a fixed term with a discount you automatically move to a rolling monthly contract at full price, so if you move and wish to leave that provider all you need to do is give a months notice.0

In my opinion the obvious thing to do is allow the minimum term to expire and move onto the rolling 30 day notice to quit arrangement that way keeps your options open at the new address and if it’s 3 to 6 months that’s probably not going to be much in the scheme of things ( I dare say it will be negligible compared to other moving expenses ) but that’s not very MSE , if you either renew with whoever you are with, or migrate to a different provider you need to ensure that they allow ‘home movers’ to take service with them to a new address and obviously not every provider is available in every location , so if you don’t even know where you are moving to , you do risk having to pay early termination charges if the company you recontract with either doesn’t do home movers or that network isn’t available at the new address .

Ask your existing provider if they transfer contract to new property if you move, subject to them serving that area.
BT did just that when I moved (7 years ago).
Otherwise, as @Ayr_Rage says, default into a monthly rolling contract but you won't get any discounts. You may however be able to get a decent new customer deal from someone once you've moved.0
