@kimwp interesting about the dwarf mulberry not tasting very nice - was it 'Charlotte Russe'? M. rotundifolia and not nigra/alba - maybe that accounted for the disappointing taste.   Saskatoon & 'Kapow' sound very interesting.   I sympathise on over watering - I'm sure that's what did for my lemon.
Yes, think it was the Charlotte russe. I didn't get to taste it in the end, I never got more than a little extra twig that died for a couple of years, then the whole thing died.

@kimwp hope you got your money back.  I think it was a T&M introduction?  I remember that it took plant year at Chelsea (well, once I googled and jogged my memory).

    I didn't ask actually.

I bought 2 jars of jam when we were visiting the Isle of Wight recently.  One is Loganberry and Tayberry, the other Loganberry and Cherry.  They were quite dear (small jar was £4.99 :D) but you know what it’s like on holiday, even a mini one.

I tried them both with some toast this morning.  They were a bit disappointing as they were very sweet.  Him indoors will finish them as he has a very sweet tooth.

My mum tried growing loganberry and jostaberry - I wouldn't think them worth bothering with. Also cranberry and lingonberry. I have a self fertile kiwi berry which is supposed to be a bit of a triffid, but has been very slow to get started and only given one berry so far.
I do like my gooseberry and currants (red, white and black) and home grown blueberries taste very different from shop bought, but not as glorious as wild bilberries.

Back in the 1930s my grandparents lived in London. One year there was a loganberry bush growing in the neighbouring garden, with just one fruit on it. My Dad got into trouble for eating it.........

Not an unusual fruit, but we grow raspberry JoanJ and they are spectacular, large, juicy, particularly if you leave them to get a very deep red.

I like the sound of that one, added to my wish list

@Slinky & @Farway I did plant both Joan J and Polka - in both size and taste they are excellent raspberries - BUT I found that the canes died out after 5 years or so, whereas my Autumn Bliss & Autumn Gold are still going strong.

I find that odd, we planted 6 canes in 2020, only 5 came up, but there are absolutely masses of them now. The originals may have gone, I'm not sure, but their offspring are more than making up for it.
