Missed Payment Broadband Issue

I had my broadband with a certain provider until September 2023 when I switched. All my payments were up to date and as far as I was aware my account was closed.
In October 2023 I received an email from my old provider saying I hadn't returned the router. I sent the router back (it was my fault I had completely forgotten to post it). I thought this would be the end of it and though nothing more about it. I then had an email a month later saying I'd been charged due to not returning the router. I didn't think anything of it as I'd already sent it back and thought the departments would talk to each other and the charge would be removed.
I've just checked my credit score as the 0% rate on my credit card is up in a few months and it has gone from excellent to very poor.
Looking at my credit file, It's saying that I had missed the payment to my old provider in Jan and Feb and was in early arrears. In March it went into Sustained arrears. The last update on my credit file was for March and it says the balance is still £35. I've received no communication from my old provider since the November 2023 which is why I thought everything had been sorted out.
I'm feeling really frustrated and angry that I've had no further communication from my old provider advising me the charge is still outstanding as this has effectively ruined my credit score. Is there anything I can do to reverse the damage that has already been done?

Credit scores are a gimmick that no-one sees
If the company is correctly reporting late payments they won't be removed as it is a function to show other lenders of your previous historySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
