Travel insurance query

Hi,
Got a policy with holiday extras bought about 10mths ago and we are due to fly in a couple of weeks.
This week my wife had a mole removed and test results in 4 to 8 weeks. so we rang the travel insurance company to get advice and after speaking to the Underwriter they've said if we need to cancel before we fly we are covered for the cost of the holiday.
Once we arrive at the destination we'll have no cover for issues arising from the mole removal including let's say an infection. Evan curtailment is not covered either.
Is this right? We've not been offered to pay an additional premium they've just flat out excluding anything from the mole removal.
Thanks

We have an annual travel policy, I contacted them about a recent medical problem and this was the reply ...
Good morning Mr Generous,
As the (redacted) diagnosis was made after the policy was purchased, it has been noted down on the policy and you will automatically be covered should anything happen while you are away.
If you have any other queries, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
I was pleased with the reply, but thinking about it surely that's the way it should be!!
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

I understand about the test results because basically it's an known factor... but to completely exclude anything arising from having mole removed I'm finding hard to understand. Their words if the wound gets Infected there's no cover.
I spoken again this morning to them because the stitches are out and the wound has closed, basically no different to me having a cut on my arm and gets infected whilst away.
She's referring it back to the Underwriter.
It's not as if we bought the policy knowing she was having this done, it was purchased the policy about 11mths ago just after we booked the holiday0 -
But the wound is not due to just getting a cut,
It is the reasin for the woulnd that applicable.
An infection in the wound could be due to an underlying condition when is not known until the test results are available.
Do you expect there to be an infection in the wound?
if you consider the wound is closed and will not cuase any further problem then the exclusion will not matter anyway.0
