    Understand your disappointment at being denied the opportunity to 'haul these cowboys over the coals in front of a judge'.

    While this won't help you hold them to account now it will impact their practice behaviour in future if you sign this petition demanding the re-launch of a Govt-backed Parking Code of Practice. 🙏

    We need to add our voices to the group of MPs and Parking Steering Group (Coupon-mad sits on) in calling for statutory regulation for the private parking industry. The present voluntary measures are failing to protect us.

    @notonmywatchDCBVCS

    You could start a claim of your own for a DPA/GDPR breach. Once VCS were aware you were not the driver, they had no right to process your data nor pass it to third parties (plural) any further.

    A letter of/before claim costs nothing but a few minutes of your time, and then you have a further 6 years to proceed. Further costs are minimal: about £100 in total with an initial £25 to issue a claim, and you can claim all costs back, plus reasonable costs incurred, plus £250 - ish for a data breach (no proof of financial loss is required) plus interest. You could even engage a debt collector on a no-win - no fee basis.

    So an update: hearing had been scheduled for 26 February, with evidence submission on 15 January. I was getting rather excited, if I am honest, about being able to haul these cowboys over the coals in front of a judge (despite being told by both the DVLA and the SRA to amend the claim form to strike out any reference to POFA, they had failed to do so), but, sadly, I received their notice to discontinue today - technically it requires the judge to agree but given the logjam in the courts I expect there is no real hope that they may insist on getting them to court give them a telling off! LOL

    Guessing I can let this lie now, but I could be tempted vex them further if anyone knew of a way to hold them to account on this?
    Yay!  You won.

    ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!

    Is this a DCB Legal discontinuance? If so, @Umkomaas is counting them all in his thread but for your success to be counted we'll need to see the NoD here please (only if DCB Legal).

    And please stick around as there was a final Public Consultation about the statutory Parking Code, literally due before the General Election.  It all stopped but is not dropped. The Code and a wider regime of scrutiny and regulation of this rogue industry is coming.

    I suspect that the Labour Government will need to dot a few i's and cross a few t's before attempting to get their version of the new statutory Code of Practice over the line. i.e. (without disclosing any work I'm involved in as part of the Steering Group) I think everyone reasonably anticipates a Public Consultation soon which you'll want to reply to, I expect?
    PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Well done. Let's fly over to the DCB Legal thread of shameful discontinuations where we can stop without VCS trying to extort money!  👍
    Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

    I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Anyone else suspect no airport operator will want this little earner in any court?
