thank you. I read about CUE and that's what got me wondering about who has access to it, such as finance
So in this case, I may as well go through insurance then. My policy will be taking a hit regardless

actually sorry its 200 for labour and i need to spend 100 on a light cluster as it cracked
Going through insurance would save me some money but only if it doesn't affect my premium for next year even more than it is currently
The 3rd party are claiming, so a claim will be recorded in any case. Whether you also claim will make no difference to that, or to your premiums.

The other dilemma is whether the 3rd party don't end up claiming. It's been a month and nothing has come through to my insurers from them yet, which is very strange. It was a company van, so maybe they're busy and delayed on this.

Best case would be they don't provide any costs in the next 180 days or forget to, in which case I'm wondering if my claim would get dropped or not. Wishful thinking probably

A month is not strange... 6 months would be unusual, even 12 months isn't that uncommon. The law gives them 6 years to make a claim assuming there are no injuries involved.

Companies are typically slower than private individuals... £2k for a repair is ultimately important for their balance sheet but its not life or death for them whereas many people claim their baby will starve to death if we dont repay their excess within a day or two. Companies can also often have hierarchies which means all comms are much slower as the driver speaks to his manager who speaks to the depot manager who speaks to the fleet manager who speaks to the broker who speaks to the insurer. The insurer asks for clarification if it was 6am or 6pm and the comms go back down the chain again.
