After holding back I finally succumbed to having a smart meter as they seem to have the 2nd gen now. What happens when they switch of supply to gas boiler, does it have to be reset, and the room digital thermo have to be reset?
Thank you
Thank you

If you are getting both meters replaced both utilities will be shut off for the duration of the work.
Be prepared to switch off all items individually so that they can be restored one at a time.
The boiler will need to be shut down, the gas line should be purged of air by the installer after the meter change.
If your thermostat is mains powered and doesn't have a battery backup you'll have to reset it from scratch, time to dig out those instructions!
My thermostat has a radio link with the boiler and reconnected by itself once power was restored.

How do you mean Each appliance.?

Anything that you normally have to reset after a power cut will need to be reset after your smart meters are fitted, Anything that you don't have to reset after a power cut will not need to be reset.
Can you rephrase this question to make it clearer what you are asking?Silverbird65 said:How do you mean Each appliance.?

You don't have to turn them off and turn them on, one at a time.1

Hi having SM installed tomorrow. Do I have to switch off my gas boiler If I do will it automatically reset when switched back on. What about in room display which is set up for boiler thermostat. Really getting worried now. Can someone who has had an SM fitted help.
Thanks all0 -
The engineer will sort all that out for you - he'll probably turn the boiler off before isolating the old meter from the gas before installing the new one, but will put it back to how it was.1

The engineer will just purge the gas line and restart the boiler, setting up thermostats, IHDs and any devices that do not reconnect automatically to your router is down to you.
Time to hunt out those instructions just in case.1
