Using PayPal for direct debits from my bank account

I need to have an additional direct debit on one of my bank accounts. In the past I have set some up so I can send payments to myself and it pulls that money from a bank account of mine as a direct debit.

I am trying to set another up but seems in able to do so - it just wants my debit card details which I assume will come out as a card payment not a DD. Am I correct here?

If so, how do I link an account so that it will pull the money as a direct debit.....or is this not possible anymore?

Either site or app, got to you 'Wallet' and there should be the option to Link Bank. You can then either search for your bank or if it can't find it, go straight to add your sort code and account number.

Ah thanks, not realised it was in wallets in the app. I was sure I'd looked there.

I did find it on the website  since my post. It is there on the home page. A little easier than finding it on the app.

Unless it's changed since I last tried, once you link your bank account you can only add funds to your PayPal balance using said DD through the app, not through the website. You can however still make purchases and use your bank account as the funding source. In either case it will trigger a DD on your bank account, but the former doesn't actually require you to spend money as you can then withdraw your PayPal balance back to your bank account.
