A2 Dominion social housing

Hello, I hope this message finds everyone well.
Lately I have become a little frustrated with A2 Dominion as back in February my family and I won a bid for Social housing with this housing association. The tenant took a while to move out which took place the middle of April however, since April, contractors have been carrying out work to the property which is a 2 bedroom flat. The lady we deal with is extremely hard to get hold of and even through text very rarely replies if ever.
I do hope I am not being unreasonable, it's not a good living situation and we really need to move.
I wanted to ask if anyone have experienced this with A2 Dominion and how long it took.

Many thanks.

Put it this way. I reported an empty council house over a year ago. They discovered asbestos So there was a delay while that was removed and everything plastered and redecorated. Workmen left probably at least 6 weeks ago and it’s still empty.
It’s just not a quick process. Which is silly when you see how many people are on the waiting list, but it seems to be par for the course.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It absolutely can be a quick process from works finishing and being released for let.

However works may not be finished in OPs case. That work isn't quick because there are only a certain amount of trades and contractors and over 100 sets of keys being returned every week at most large HAs.

The majority of social housing does not get returned empty clean or in a relettable condition. For every property left as a complete pit it delays others moving in as the trades spend the time on 1 job when they could be knocking out 3 or 4.

  • Thankyou for your replies, this will be my first social house therefore completely unaware as to what normally needs to be done. I do feel more at ease reading these replies and I probably need to be a little more patient and not be overthinking all the time.

    Thanks again :)

Have you used their complaints process? (Email id provided).

Not yet, I didn't want to be unreasonable as I was unsure of the average lead time for the works to be completed. Though the communication with the individual I'm dealing with is not far from non existent as she never picks up the phone or even replies. I'll try calling her for an update later this week and if I cannot get hold of her I'll go above and speak to a manager and see if they can provide an update.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
