Vacant Property Insurance

Options
Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of selling an inherited property and the insurance has come through for renewal. Initially I contacted the existing insurance company, in this case Swinton and changed it into my name with an extra premium payed for the change of circumstances. The renewal has come through at £587.60 and I'm interested to know if there are any specialist companies that insure vacant properties that may offer a better premium.
Thanks.

Just Google Insurance for Vacant Properties and take your pick. Note that the cheapest cover will  usually have more onerous requirements eg isolating and draining all plumbing, frequent checks on the property, gardens kept neat and tidy etc.

I used broker Adrian Flux. In my case much cheaper, but needed frequent visits to property.

I went with Swinton and paid about £350.00. Tried a couple of so called specialist and they were each at about £1,000.00, with the same level of cover.

No hassle with Swinton when I came to cancel the policy and obtain a refund.

Unoccupied Insurance is the normal term, make sure you understand the requirements of the policy though as what a "visit" is that resets the clock varies massively and what needs to be done the longer the property is unoccupied too... best case you have to have the heating set to 8C or visit the property regularly, worst case you need to have the windows/doors boarded etc.
