What has been highlighted is an apparent incorrectly reported figure around the cost of charging a mobility scooter. People have referenced that to public realm information on mobility scooters and other electric vehicles (cars).
You have repeatedly commented that there are people "bashing" the disabled and I do not see that happening in this thread.
What might be helpful and constructive to those that are querying the validity of the stated cost to charge the mobility scooter would be to provide details of mobility scooters where a cost to charge of £4 - £5 is plausible based upon the battery specification for that model. That would be over 10kWh of electricity at price cap rates. Do mobility scooter models where this type of cost of charge is plausible exist?
There is a lot of sympathy for the extra costs that can arise from living with disability and it is wholly correct that a journalist would seek to draw attention to these factors so that the necessary support can be put in place and with general consensus that the support is necessary. That whole beneficial purpose of articles like the one being discussed in this thread is undermined when the article quotes implausible data.
As for the "rules" or scrutiny of claims when people post for advice, this forum does try to be honest and factual. If a thread is started with clearly inconsistent data, then the OP will be asked to comment on that data. It is a common factor in the energy boards.1
