Scratch on new double glazing

New glazing installed. Already paid half. Have noticed glass scratch which I believe fits GGF guidances as faulty. +25mm well away from edge. I can see from more than 3 meters away. Reported the next day. Company won't do anything, wont even come out to look at it until I've paid the balance. They say its in their terms and conditions. Should I pay and hope for the best?

I certainly wouldn't be paying the balance. If there is a fault then I want it sorted before parting wit the rest of the money.BREWSON said:New glazing installed. Already paid half. Let's Be Careful Out There1 -
Just to add, witholding the full balance would be a bad move. If the firm aren't paying ball, it's normally recommended that you pay the balance less the cost of having the window corrected by someone else.
That way you'll be fine if it was to go to court.
(Courts don't like you punishing the other party, that's their job. So you want to take action that is fair (paying what's due for the windows which are okay) despite the other party being unreasonable)1 -
I think it's reasonable to withold the balance pending correction of the issue. As I see it, they haven't completing the contracted work to specification and your satisfaction. This isn't a post-completion or warranty matter; it's a delivery/installation issue. However, I'd read the T&Cs and see what is actually written there.Did you sign paperwork to say you'd accepted the installation? If payment is due on completion, then they need to complete the work.

Get a quote to replace that part of the glazing casement. Pay the balance minus the cost of the repair. Give them 7 days to response and then get the repair done elsewhere. How did you pay the amounts so far? If on CC, copy them in.0
