time time only severance

I've recently taken voluntary redundancy from a term time only position with my final day on 31st July (their choice, not mine.) I would usually be on leave/away from work mid July to late August. Is that time off just lost into the ether? Also, the way term time only pay works is it is spread equally across the year, so you get paid the same each month, in other words I earn more some months than others (the weeks when I'm on leave) but the money is evened out so I don't have unpaid months (which is a real convenience but makes it an absolute nightmare to work out whether I have money owing, or I actually owe them when my final salary is processed. Has anyone been in this position or have any wisdom to share? Thanks.

    You need to ask the specific employer but y daughter is leaving her teaching post this year and whilst she has confirmation of her date of leave/last day of employment she has been advised one element of her pay will be paid a month after finishing.
