Comparison sites are indicative as they don't always provide the full details the insurer needs to make a formal offer of contract. This is why you have to still go through to the insurers site and check that all of the information is correct and go through their own policy pricing engine.

Never assume the comparison engine quote is 100% accurate.

Can't answer your poll question as the answer is sometimes it changes on getting the real quote for me. More often than not stays the same though.

They provide indicative prices.  I recently took out a new policy and when I provided full details on the actual insurance company website the price was lower than the comparison.  The only other main detail I provided were the named drivers licence numbers.

As above, not all quotes on comparison are 'tailored' to what you entered. eg you might have specified legal cover and the quoted price doesn't include it.

Basically your poll is a waste of time.

Are you clicking through from the comparison engine, or going separately to the insurer and asking them for a new quote?

The comparison sites are supposed to give an accurate rather than indicative figure however it will be based on certain assumptions depending on the size of the company and how closely their Q&A set mirrors that of the aggregator in question. They'll bend over backwards to get a big name on there and add unique questions for them etc but if you're a small intermediary you have to take what you're given.

Obviously if you dont follow the process of clicking through from the aggregator to the seller and then completing the purchase online then all bets are off.
