Indecisive venetian blind buyer!

I am one of the worlds most indecisive people...:o
I would be really grateful for some opinions on venetian blinds.
I want to use venetian blinds on the windows of an Edwardian building with 2 large sash windows in each room.
I can't decide between wide or narrow blinds.
The windows are all east facing so won't get direct light after late morning.
The overall space the windows take up is 180cm high by 180cm wide so it will be quite a dominant thing in each room.
I like the smaller look of the narrow blinds but think they might let in less light, also are they on the wain now? It seems that a lot of houses in the area have them.
I am buying wooden blinds in ash, which is quite a light colour.
Can anybody give me their opinion?

hi i would go for 35mm slats on that size window, as wood is thicker than metal they will take up more space when pulled up, on that size 35mm looks more in proportion and will let in more light. the thicker slat is also more stable on that width0

I agree, I would also go with the wider ones, I think they look more expensive too.0

when we moven into this present house, we had blinds fitted everywhere.
we hated them. always getting dirty and a pita to clean.
glad to get rid off them and replace with normal nets and curtains.Get some gorm.0 -
Thank you everyone. My OH also prefers the wide so I think I will have to bow to the majority! I'm going to have 2 x 90 cm for more flexibility and hopefully they will look great.
i know cleaning them can be a pain, my mum had the old metal white ones when I was at home and we used to wash them in the bath!
Someone recommended vacuuming the wooden ones (with an attachment) so hopefully that will be a bit easier.0 -
Historically, 2inch (50mm) slats were the first wooden blinds available and I think would lend better to your property. They let in more light as the space between each slat is greater and are less likely to warp. We had 25mm fitted in the kitchen in our last house, but we ended up raising them all day to let more light in and that defeated the object of having them in the first place. We recently bought some more for our new house. Its a new house, so we went for the 35mm version. After a couple of evenings trawling the Internet, we eventually opted for Contour Blinds. www.contourblinds.co.uk The blinds were delivered via TNT, and were well packed. They are now fitted with absolutely no problems0
