Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out. My partner has a closed UC account and has since changed his number. As itd closed hes not able to log on and change his details/cannot be sent a text to the old number. He needs to access his statements from 2019 to show he received UC during this time period. But cannot access the account. UC phone line have been useless and not provided any help. Can anyone advise please how he can change his number on a closed account OR somehow access a closed account without using the number associated with that account
Thank you
Thank you

Partner should go into Job Centre with ID and new phone. They can help change mobile number on the claim, so that your partner can access the claim. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1

How quickly do you need them? One option would be an SAR
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-your-personal-information-from-the-department-for-work-and-pensionsIf you need a copy of any other information that DWP holds about you
You can request your personal information online.
You can also write to DWP. Include a description of the information you want (for example Jobseeker’s Allowance records), the time period you need the information to cover and your:
- full name
- full address
- date of birth
- National Insurance number
- telephone number if you’re requesting call recordings

Does your partner have two-factor authentication set up on the old UC claim? i.e. is it sending a text with a unique code to the old number?
If so, on the screen where you’re prompted to input the SMS code there should be a link along the lines of “I cannot access this code / phone number, log in another way” and instead an email will be sent.0 -
Thank you all for your comments. In relation to the SAR form. We filled that out but nothing was said about how long it would take for him to receive anything. Would anyone have any idea about time frame. Ideally within the next couple weeks as he needs this to atsrt his new role0
