Unknown CCJ on Credit Record

Hi guys,

I have read through few posts on the CCJ but didn't find the answers that I was looking for, so creating this new thread. Hoping someone with similar experience can share useful tips.

I was trying to buy something online earlier today on an interest free offer and it was declined by the lender. It has never happened to me before, so got me curious and I decided to do a credit score check. To my surprise I found a CCJ for £900 from Oct 23 on my credit file saying court judgement was not disputed. It is from CNBC (Civil National Business Center).

I have never received any correspondence with regards to this claim. I know from previous experience that claims process is lengthy and usually involves loads of letters from claimant as well as the county court. I downloaded some more info from trustonline database and noticed that address on this CCJ is incorrect, instead of Flat No, it only has the street address with postcode. There are 70 flats at this address, I am guessing that all the related mail was either returned back to sender or delivered to other residents.

I have just emailed the Judgements.CNBC@justice.gov.uk to get more details about claimant and will try to ring them tomorrow. May I ask, if anyone has heard/been involved in a similar scenario when CCJ was passed while having wrong/partial mailing address? What are my options here and what would be the best course of action?

I will be applying for a remortgage soon and I am concerned that this will have an adverse impact on my options. Now that it's already on record, what can I do about it?

Many thanks for reading this far and your helpful responses.

Good chance it's a parking ticket though that value is fairly high even for them - did you maybe move house and not update the V5 address for a while?

You can pay for a set aside of the CCJ but you'd still need to pay whatever debt is owed

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks Naqueron. Address on CCJ is correct but incomplete which is why I think I never got the mail. Is this something that can be appealed you think?

Pretty sure it will be a parking ticket. Might be best asking on the Parking sub board of the motoring section.
