Time limit on dental insurance

I've had continuous dental insurance for the past 9 years. I have some fairly extensive treatment 6.5 years ago and for various reasons never made a claim. I still have the receipts. Is it worth putting the time in to try to make a claim or have I no hope?

As its over 6 years its highly unlikely, even if the insurer was willing to consider it the dentist may not longer have records to enable them to answer queries from the insurer0
