Barclay's Blue Rewards Removing £5 Reward

This news has prompted me to leave Blue Rewards which I only had for the Rainy day saver. Will keep the current account with the direct debits for a possible future switch. It's the only bank I'm with I would be happy to leave, due to them having no regular saver option.0

I have had my Barclays account practically dormant, bar two DDs, for ages now, waiting for a switch offer that I am actually eligible for to come along, but alas it seems it is not meant to be, as done them all and likely to be a while, if ever, that I qualify again.0

Even worse for those who don't want or need Apple TV.
An actual fiver is much more useful!
Maybe they could have offered Paramount+ or Netflix or Amazon Prime (those rank higher than Apple TV) or magazine subscriptions or something. You could have argued the same about Netflix 14 years ago. There's probably more new series which I'm interested in appearing on Apple TV than any other TV streaming platform now.The biggest 'issue' with paying a fiver for it is that it can so easily be had for free, so I wouldn't recommend paying a fiver for it. As a Premier customer it's a great freebie tho.Same can be said for the other Blue Rewards benefits - they're good for nothing but not for more.1 -
Just started using the Rainy Day Saver again instead of the Santander 5 2% one for my spare cash. Blue Rewards not worth it for me, so my Barclays will just sit there doing nothing in case it becomes useful again in the futureI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

My Barclays Rewards was slightly loss making as with a net £0 reward gain and my DDs going to Ecology BS (nice society but not leading rates) and I can get better rates on its associated saver.I'm not bitter as I made a nice amount through switching to it when it was double bubble. I've just shut everything down Today, so that's one less bank with anything interesting going on.This seems to be a trend and with just Lloyds/Halifax group, Nationwide/RBS group and Santander 123 Lite left I wondering when these will cut their rewards tooRetired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."0 -

Please don't suggest to other banks that they should stop / close/ 'improve' their rewards!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Nationwide and RBS are nothing to do with eachother. The former has just paid £100 to eligible members with a current account (and either savings or a mortgage) for the second year running, and has indicating without committing that they would like those payments to continue. The latter is owned by Natwest Group who were marking their Reward accounts (at Natwest and RBS) a fair bit earlier this year to co-incide with their £200 switching bonus.
Lloyds have just pumped a fair bit of money in to a marketing relaunch of the Club Lloyds account, so I can't see that going anywhere just yet. It's been a while since I've seen Halifax Reward pushed in any meaningful way though...1 -

Hi all,
Just letting you know we've just published a story on this:
Barclays to axe Blue Rewards monthly cashback - should you ditch it now?
Thanks so much!

No mention of changes to Premier customers. Many here will know already but it would have helped those that don't
