Exit fee or not

I've queried exit fees with my supplier (Sainsburys energy) and been advised that I have £75 per fuel exit fee with fix ending 2nd Oct.
However, latest account statement clearly states under each fuel:

Early exit fee: None

I've queried this but has anyone else experienced and if so would the statement be enforceable?

Raise a complaint with Sainsbury's with your evidence and make it clear you will seek a decision from the ombudsman if they refuse.

I have the same issue with E.On Next that states 'none' on the bill but their customer service people flat out insist that there's still an early exit fee.

Go by what's printed on the bill.  Customer service people are often incorrect and inconsistent with each other.  The legally binding terms are what you have printed/in writing.

Thanks both...I've now had an email reply which while it doesn't completely answer, does confirm no exit fee for an internal tariff change as tariff is no longer offered. Given projected price rise just as we were due to renew in October, I'll happily switch internally even if other suppliers may be marginally cheaper
