Moving abroad - best way to keep a UK address?

I did similar to you some years ago. I kept all my accounts (and I have lots!) and kept them under my UK house address. It helped that I rented out to a friend of a friend so I was happy to let post go there and collect when I went back to UK or get a friend to collect and store it for me.
Rightly or wrongly, I didn't take any legal advice or inform anyone I was leaving the country. No one seemed to notice (i.e. HMRC etc) and I returned with no issues.
I did change the address of one bank when I moved (Halifax I think) and it caused a few problems (not that they weren't happy to change the address but something didn't work smoothly after that - I cannot remember exactly what) that I decided it was best to keep accounts in the UK address.
Do you have a good friend that you could change the address to?0
