Curtain Pole Tiny Screw Type.

Disappointed this One Screw is Flat and not holding Curtain Pole connector.
What's this screw type/size And is there Screw Remover/Extractor for the smallest Screw ever.


This Crystal connector can be removed by hand and other side screw is fine with smallest Allen key.

If you have a set, throw them away. If you try to use one, it will break, and then you have to pay to have the remains spark eroded out (expensive).

Best thing to do, is set the pole up in a machine vice and then use a pillar drill to drill out the core of the screw. If you are lucky, the remains may unscrew. If not, use an appropriate sized tap to clean out the hole.

An alternative is to get a drill bit with a left hand grind and use it in an electric drill running in reverse.

I can remove the bracket with the hole and stuck screw.
maybe electric drill is best option.
which size of screw it's tiniest.

strange because it looks like a perfectly normal "grub" screw with a hex (allen key) head

does the allen key turn in the recess of its own accord, or do you mean there is positive lock with the allen key, but the screw itself will not turn when rotating the allen key?

you may end up having to drill out the screw, re-tap the hole for the next size up new grub screw

Other identical screws have enough travel and reach inside end of curved bracket, this faulty one looks short and flat not enough travel.
Mser's refer to example via eBay, only if I fail mid week.
this is identical example bracket+screw.
p.s. My faulty screw Doesn't have the screw end opposite head maybe my screw has broken.

so the thread of the screw hole itself is stripped so the screw rotates but does not "undo" because there is nothing left for it to get a grip on

That's correct though these next photo's mean the Screw head looks stripped, this part forms part of Crystal end fitting.

The screw is never going to tighten onto Crystal Ball fitting.
I've re tightened pole bracket which is awkward as the larger single screw points towards wood support above window.
Hopefully this tightened screw holds pole enough to limit loose crystal ball piece from dropping off when opening/closing curtains.
p.s. don't recall cost of Pole though search suggests from 75!

OP, I was just putting mine back up yesterday and a similar design. Have you got the thick end and thin end on the right ends? From the outside, my pole ends are the same, but the thin end one has a thicker collar.  Took me a minute to realise the difference. Also, the tiny screw is in the right way? I over loosened mine and it dropped out, had to remember to put it back in the right way.
