Insurance for new car vs old car

I just bought a new car and asked my current insurer for a quote to changeover but the quote was far too high and I have now purchased cheaper insurance with another provider, quoting / using my NCD of course. I still have my old car and have not cancelled the old insurance yet, question = is my old car still legally insured or not ? I'm really not sure as I guess that my old car now doesn't have any NCD applied to it so is it not insured because of that. etc ?

It is insured but you need to make them aware you have taken the ncd elsewhere and pay the appropriate additional premium0

That was my initial thought tbh, but as I mentioned their quote is outrageous and as the car will not be used or minimal at most until I move it on so, then I don't really want to waste any more insurance money on it. tbh, it's still somewhat unclear if I would actually be uninsured if I simply do nothing but do drive it occasionally ? Guessing that legally I may be insured but if it came to a claim then I could be in trouble ?cw8825 said:It is insured but you need to make them aware you have taken the ncd elsewhere and pay the appropriate additional premium0 -
You've used your NCD on your new policy while it's still in use on your old policy. Your new insurer might have issues with this.

Technically it’s your new car which is not insured correctlygmcarthu23 said:

as you don’t have the ncd that has been declared
so if anything your better to sort this now.As if your using the new car more it’s more of a risk1 -
mm, I hadn't even thought of it that way, that's a bit more worrying, better 100% confirm as suggestedcw8825 said:

You cannot use NCD on two policies at the same time, as the old car insurance is still in force your new policy is invalid as taken with false declaration on the NCD.
Your old car insurance remains valid as all previous declaration on it remain true.0 -
You may be able to get a short-term insurance on your old car.I previously had insurance where they gave me a 1-month crossover period to have both cars insured pending sale of my old one.0
