NCP fine from Gatwick Airport

We recieved a fine for a drop off at Gatwick airport. I have attached the letter. I have a disabled badge holder but forgot to register it for that day. Is there anyway that I can appeal this charge. Normally I ignore letters but being that it is the airport I don't want to have a bad record or anything like that.
I have seen a template for an appeal letter but didn't understand how calculations of dates were done with regards to whether I was liable based on date of incident and the date of the notice being sent.
I would appreciate some guidance before I action anything.
Do I appeal on basis of being disabled and forgot to register for the free drop off or other.

Dates are irrelevant. But you can't lose as long as you don't blab about who was driving.
Use the appeal shown in the Gatwick Drop Off Group thread. Search for it.
