Ok thank you I will look into this.
If you become protective over your money and she has no income then there are further risks of this affecting relationship or even shifting to a criminal nature.

Which is why the UK has the ILR for Domestic Violence or Abuse, for those on some UK visas. The Spouse visa (the initial visa to enter) that is then a FLR(M) visa on renewal, is one that qualifies.

"Domestic violence and abuse can be emotional, psychological, physical, sexual or financial. It includes threatening or controlling behaviour to try to harm, isolate or frighten someone."

A spouse visa allows the holder to work and use the NHS, on the same terms as a resident British Citizen can.

Yes.... a couple of friends ended up getting ILR having faced domestic violence and leaving the home. Both spent a fair bit on the legal fees due to the non standard evidential requirements etc but got good initial support from local authority. Fortunately both were working so had resource once they left environment where their money was taken. I was a bit concerned at the language of the Op as it certainly takes us in that direction of controlling what someone else can do... no mention of the things you associate with a relationship or any sign of personal affection in the referencing. But online enquiries can be misleading in emphasis I suppose.

Yes, that was how I read it too. But maybe it's an arranged marriage due to culture which wouldn't necessarily have affection at the start. But it is important even in an arranged marriage to understand that the other partner should not be controlled and have agency to make their own decisions about what they want to do.
