car insurance auto renewal

It is 3 weeks before my renewal and i got an invitation to renew via email, this also informed me that my compulsory excess was going up from £450 to  wait for it !! £5,000.
Had i not seen this email warning me then my insurance would have "auto renewed" and when / if i were to make a claim i would then have to stump up the £5,000 excess.  I spoke to One Call (my insurers) and all they could do was offer me a £650 excess but with a policy premium of £2500.
so i have cancelled it.
So just a warning out there to be vigilant at renewal time

One of the most common to be stolen too.  A friend had to sell his Range Rover as the insurance went up to well in to 4 figures.

Lucky you can even get insurance then. And its far from a common car.

Everyone should check the details of their auto-renewal and ensure it is competitive every year. So nothing new really on that front.

Good luck in finding something reasonable, hope you do.

Also expensive to repair which affects insurance costs. Apart from electric cars the highest depreciation car's in the UK are all Range/Land Rover luxury cars. My mate has one and is hoping it gets nicked because trade in is less than finance, it has electrical faults regularly, it consumes fuel like a bus and his insurance has doubled from an already high premium.
