B&Q don't know the meaning of customer service

5th May went to buy a Calor Gas canister. Was informed that Calor had gone out of business and I had to set up an account with another form of gas (for bbqs) and buy another canister.
6th May I phoned Calor and found they had NOT gone bust!
I went back to B&Q for a refund and was refused.
I escalated via their contact form.
I am still waiting for them to respond.
I have a long trail of emails where I have chased them.
I have also made numerous phone calls.

Pretty sure B&Q should have said "We don't stock/sell Calor any more. Our new supplier is FloGas"...
It's soooo simple to look up Calor stockists online with todays' technology (smart phones etc..).
The Range are a Calor Stockist, as is Go Outdoors, many Garden Centres, and a plethora of petrol stations have Calor gas cages outside (including my local Morrisons).
Agreed it is bad the B&Q staff didn't direct you to a local stockist or just say to search online for one. But you did seem to jump in with both feet rather than go away to mull over the situation.
DO keep on at them for a refund though as it's a hefty charge for a new gas cylinder "rental" from a different brand on top of the refill gas cost.
NB They should be able check that you haven't used any of the gas via weighing the cylinder and subtracting the Tare Weigh (of the empty cylinder) from the label stamped on the disc around the neck.1 -
I doubt they will refund you as they will claim the cylinder is not faulty (which it isn't)If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1

Wouldn't using the gas, as you planned, and then returning the cylinder for the normal deposit put you back where you want to be?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

They are not going to refund you if you bought a canister and gas. That is what yoy paid for.1

To be fair Calor did announce the phasing out of some products and last year made staff redundant.1
