PCN despite paying via Ringgo app

I am so cross - paid for parking on the RingGo app when taking my daughter to hospital - for some reason the car numberplate already on the app had a zero 0 instead of an O so I got a PCN. Appealed it with proof of a receipt from RingGo showing I was covered for the time in question but it was rejected. They don’t deny I paid they just say I inputted the car numberplate wrong and it’s the responsibility of the driver to get this right. I’m really not sure what to do - whether to pay up at the 50% discounted rate or appeal further and risk being liable for the full amount. I really don’t see how they can take the car-parking payment and issue a fine? WWYD?

    Which PPC?

Show us that rejection wording but not any data or POPLA code.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Which PPC issued this scam invoice it wasn't RINGO who are totally independent in this?
That is a minor keying error and recognised as such by both ATA's and must be cancelled!
Numberplate fonts do not distinguish a 0 from an o anyway, the PPC is scamming you against their ATA's COP why on earth would you pay a scammer anything?
POPLA or even the IAS should agree with you on this if they try it on, or you could even ignore and let them waste their time sending debt collectors letters for the next six years, I doubt they would chance court.

I agree, this is a minor keying error and the BPA/IAS guidelines both advise that PCN's should be cancelled when the VRN is off by one character especially if the characters are similar O & 0 , or 1 & I , etc. Call their BS

Hi all this was a council issued PCN so I don’t appeal to Popla do I …I’ve done an initial informal challenge that has been rejected by the Council - I have 14 days from the date of the appeal rejection letter to pay the 50% reduced rate or they send me a Notice to Owner and I can challenge formally but would have to pay the full £110 if I lost this … final arbiter (or so I understand) is London Tribunals … where cases that get this far have a 51% chance of success. All advice greatly appreciated!
